Thanks to Michael Blanchard of Prudential Sandia Real Estate for helping with fostering these 2 sweeties (Thanks to Marie for top photo of Siouxsie Sioux!)
Momma and 10 pups (yes 10!) were born on New Year's Day. Despite our family business being devastated by the poor economy and the fact that we also had a non-profit project depending on our support, we helped to rescue this sweet momma and her newborn pups from being euthanized at a high-kill shelter. It all started with an innocent search to adopt a puppy. On Sun., Jan. 2nd we saw a '911 - Help' post on craigslist from a rescue group desperately seeking a foster family for all 11 of them since the puppies were newborns. We've never done anything like this before but after learning that momma/pups were at high risk for euthanasia at the shelter, we felt we had no other choice but to step up and foster them - the alternative was not an option to us. So this is our journey as animal foster newbies. With a new addition of 11 we're taking the "It Takes A Village Approach" hoping that we'll find advice and support from others. We're going to need all the help we can get! Taking it all day by day...
